What a wonderful Savior we have! Knowing He was about to depart from this earth, He made provision for His followers then and to the end of time not to be left alone. We can experience His presence in a very special and personal way until He returns in the clouds of glory. Then He will take us to the eternal home He has gone to prepare for us. The Holy Spirit is to be our teacher, guiding us into all truth as we turn to Him for understanding of the spiritual themes of God’s word. We cannot of our own comprehend the eternal truths contained in His Holy Word.

“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.  These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.  But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Corinthians 2:10, 12-14 NKJV

Notice the key points brought out in days 1 & 2 of our devotional:

1. The promise of the Holy Spirit is “a most essential and complete gift” which brings within our “reach the boundless resources of His grace”.
2. The Holy Spirit is His representative and is the means by which we are to receive Divine power to resist evil. “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that isin the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:2-4 NKJV
3. Accepting Jesus as our Savior and Lord making service to Him the joy of our lives, we have the assurance the promise of the Spirit to be ours, a personal promise fulfilled by Jesus Himself.
4. The less we appreciate, understand, desire and seek the very gift which Jesus Himself has ordained and promised for our spiritual benefit, the greater will be our spiritual impotence and eventual decline.
5. I believe you would agree we serve a BIG God. He wants to do big things for you, in you, and through you. The gift of the Holy Spirit is the key to “bigness” in your life, in my life and in as result, in the church’s life. “I (we) can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (us).” Philippians 4:13 NKJV
