Once when hiking I found the skeleton of what was once a large vibrant living animal. The only thing remaining were its dry bones and of course, there was no reason for alarm for it presented no danger to me. It was dead with no possibility of it being able to come to life and harm me. As humans we do not have the power to bring back to life dry bones and the Lord used this to illustrate the complete inability for any human to bring spiritual life to the spiritually dead soul, dearth of the dew of heaven and the springs of living waters.
Though we are called to cooperate with the Divine, whether preaching the word or lending a helping hand to someone in need, it is only by the power of the Spirit of God that spiritual life is awakened and brought to life in the soul. If you feel like you are going through a spiritual drought or even worse like you have lost your way spiritually take the counsel of the Lord Himself. “O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord”. Ezekiel 37:4 Paul writes, “For the word of God is living and powerful” Hebrews 4:12. When we listen to God speak it is life to our bones. He is the One who spoke the world into existence and He can speak life into our spiritual life.
Have a great day! Thank you for spending some time considering these thoughts.
